Math you might shiver when you hear this word or you might cheer but if you are a parent more often than not you will hear I HATE MATH now don't mourn over the lack of education your children are getting yet because the reason most kids HATE math is because they think it’s either boring or they aren’t "good" at it however both of these reasons have answers and they are not from a textbook! I will cover one of them here.
If you're kids think they aren’t good at math it might be because they don’t understand the way that the teacher is teaching this particular method you see some kids might learn by listening, watching, reading, writing or speaking so if you simply decipher which way you're child learns it will become easier for he or she to understand it. Now don't be complaining that this takes too much time to go over the same things that they learned in class today but it will be worth it because you won't have to deal with paying college tuition for a kid who isn’t going to make use of it. But if you don’t have Tim to go over things every night with your kid then I advise you to figure out how your child learns and set up a meeting with their teacher and explain how they learn and if you can do anything to make it easier for he or she to stay with the class most teachers are more than happy to help you figure out an easy way for them to learn in their own way at home and in the classroom.
If you are homeschooling I advise researching every math book out there and deciding what is right for your kids here are my personal preferences. Forester is an amazing program that I am going through right now he explains everything so I can understand it easily and he gets straight to the point and doesn’t have any “extra” junk involved he teaches it to you, you understand, and you practice orally, mentally and on paper. Another thing I like about Forester is its witty and fun here is an example:
Bill Dupp’s Lumber yard charges $.50 for each cubic foot (ft.3) of sand you buy, plus $6 to deliver the sand. So the total number of dollars you pay is .50 times the number of cubic feet of sand you buy, plus 6. Let x be the number of cubic ft.
-
How much would you pay for 258ft.3 delivered?
-
Write an equation stating that you pay $17.50 to get x ft. Of sand delivered. Then solve for x.
-
How much sand could you get delivered for $100?
